Our Partnership with Parents
The bond between home and school is a strong one at Pat’s Schoolhouse. Believing that parents, teachers, principals and even support staff are partners in facilitating the growth and development of our children, we work hand-in-hand with one another to strongly encourage open communication. Many avenues for information dissemination, feedback and open dialogue about your child’s education are provided including:
- The Communication Book - Daily
- Weekly Curriculum and Event Updates - Weekly
- The PAT Connection Newsletters - Quarterly
- Cookie & Coffee Sessions - Quarterly
- Memos - Occasionally
- Parent-Teacher Conferences - June & December
- The Bulletin Board - Throughout the Year
- Parenting Workshops - Throughout the Year
- Curriculum Teas - Yearly
Each child that begins at Pat’s Schoolhouse or starts a new year with us will receive a Communication Book for his parents and teachers to communicate with each other. It can be used to relay messages, ask questions, give feedback and make suggestions. This book is brought to and from school and home on a daily basis, so both parents and teachers need to check it everyday and reply as soon as possible.
At Pat’s Schoolhouse, parents are encouraged to be involved in their children’s learning adventures with us. Activities for the whole family are held throughout the year such as Carnivals, Exhibitions and Level Concerts. At the end of each week, each Toddler to K2 child will also take home a Weekly Curriculum and Event Update that has been meticulously prepared by his class teachers (Mandarin and English) to give parents an overview of what has been covered during the week, including lyrics to new songs learnt. Parents can then share in their child’s learning experiences and reinforce what their child has learnt.
