Playgroup children spend the year getting to know the characters of Letterland. Letterlanders have alliterative names, this also helps to build up phonemic awareness at an early age. Apart from Letterland, numerous stories, rhymes, songs, art and craft and dramatic play enhance a child's learning through the year. At Nursery level, we add two more facets
- handwriting and listening discrimination skills -to the heart of the
Letterland system, the pictograms. We teach correct letter formation in
a memorable way using songs and rhymes. With teachers using different
approaches our children learn to read and write creatively and competently. The Letterland approach becomes a structured systematic course of learning for K1 & K2 classes. We emphasise:

We
use Letterland to teach Phonics and Language Arts at all levels. Coupled
with other reading and literacy programmes, children are taught to read,
write and spell with confidence.
