New
research has shown that the first five to six years of a child's life
are critical. During these years, children's brain neurons are being 'wired'.
According to gifted education experts, most children would be able to
unlock their hidden potential and exhibit 'giftedness' in many different
areas with the right kind of stimulation.
With this in mind, FasTracKids was developed
as an enrichment programme like no other for children aged 4 to 8. It
is CD-ROM based and uses a unique combination of computer technology,
LCD projection and an interactive white board to help expand your child's
general knowledge in a wide range of subjects.
See Earth Sciences module below, where children are building a simulation of a volcano.

Your child will be challenged to think productively
while simultaneously developing his problem solving, creativity and leadership
skills. In several activities, there will be opportunities for his presentations
to be recorded on video to build his self-esteem and communication skills.
FasTracKids
consists of 12 modules which are conducted over two years. Each module
revolves around exciting subjects such as:
-
Astronomy
-
Literature
-
Speech, Drama
and Art
-
-
-
Technology
and How Things Work
-
-
-

-
There is also a FasTracKids
Website for Parents with follow-up activities for parents and
children to do together at home. The website explains the current lesson
and offers suggestions for extracurricular parental support; see www.fastrackids.com.
FasTracKids is available in our centres islandwide as part of our Extended Programme. FasTracKids is also available in selected Primary Schools for 7-9 year olds.

“ My daughter, Hannah, comes home with so much to
share after each FasTracKids lesson. Her knowledge has increased
tremendously and so has her vocabulary. One day, while watching
a movie about the parting of the Red Sea, she asked why the waters
could flow upwards to make the dry path when gravity would have
pulled the waters down. Truly, my husband and I were impressed!
We have recommended your programme to many of our friends and it
does not take much to convince them when they see how my daughter
has benefited from it."
Mrs M C Lee
"Yi
Hui’s general knowledge has increased by leaps and bounds.
She talks about the lessons when she comes back from her classes.
Once while we were travelling in the car, she turned to me and told
me that the equator is an imaginary line. When I asked her where
did she learn that from, she replied, “From FasTracKids!”.
I was duly impressed."
Mrs Hoh
"My son, Andre, is relatively
new to the programme. The reason I signed him up for the programme
is because my friend told me that it’s a very good programme.
So when he came back from his first lesson, he told me, “Mum,
we really mustn’t just listen to one side of the story because
I learned that when somebody tells you a story you have to verify
it and listen to both sides of the story before you make a decision.
I was very impressed for a six-year-old boy to tell me that. So
I think this programme has a lot of room for him to learn new things
and go forward. "
Mrs Sng
"Jia
Rui has completed one cycle of FasTracKids but she told me she enjoyed
the programme very much and would like to go for another round.
She says that there are always new things to learn and new experiments.
With the FasTrack class, it builds her confidence to speak. Like
at home, she’ll pretend to be a news broadcaster. The programme
has also increased her interest in science. She’s into experiments
and loves to read all types of books."
