Pat's Schoolhouse is pleased to announce that we will be extending
our 1/2 day programme to accommodate a new 3/4 day programme.
Following the popularity of our enrichment programmes, such as FasTracKids
and The Children’s Music Library, we have been encouraged
by many parents (and kids too!) to extend our offering to a daily
programme. Hence from 1 March 2005, Pat's Schoolhouse kids will
now be able to enjoy a special curriculum which lasts till 3pm comprising
of popular enrichment programmes such as FasTracKids and The Children's
Music Library.
Our decision to offer this exciting programme was borne out of
valuable parental feedback whereby parents had expressed a desire
to have their children engaged in other enriching activities after
school hours at Pat’s Schoolhouse.
We believe that the extended hours will also help parents reduce
the hassle of making additional travel arrangements when attending
enrichment classes. Furthermore, this new programme will also mean
that your family will be able to reserve Saturdays and Sundays just
for bonding time.

The five-day extended programme will be packed with many exciting
enriching activities specially designed with your child’s
learning interests in mind and they are:
1 FasTracKids (English & Mandarin)
FasTracKids is a revolutionary enrichment education system designed
and delivered via The FasTracKids Learning Station. This is taught
through a unique combination of computer technology, LCD projection
and an interactive white board. Some of the twelve exciting topics
cover areas such as: astronomy, biology, economics, natural sciences
etc. The technology behind the FasTrack Learning Station is used
in such world-leading academic and science centers as Oxford University,
MIT, Harvard University and NASA.
Today, thousands of children participate in FasTracKids instruction
each year in more than 30 countries, and the company was honored
in 2003 by a leading business publication as one of the top-10 fastest
growing franchises, and the "Best of the Best" in the
children's enrichment education category. What is exciting for our
children is that out of six modules a year, two modules will be
taught in Mandarin.
2 The Children’s Music Library
Our Music Library is fun, interactive and multi-cultural
in our approach. Our programme is original and packed with I.T.
and music games to challenge and inspire your child as well as to
sustain his interest in learning theory (notation).
Studies show that exposure to diverse styles and types of music
are fundamental in a child’s early development. Spiced with
song and dance from around the world, our extensive programme promises
music without boundaries.
Our music appreciation programme will not only lay the groundwork
for future individual music lessons, but also certainly increase
your child’s knowledge about music cultures from around the
world! There is just so much to explore!
Solfege, listening skills, rhythm skills, note recognition, music
& movement will also be reinforced repeatedly using different
approaches. In true PAT’S Schoolhouse style, there will be
a myriad of hands-on activities including internet games, music
games, creative compositions, dramatic role play and written exercises!
3 Chinese Speech and Drama / Song and Dance
Our Chinese programme has been designed to encourage speaking
and acting skills through short traditional stories. Song and dance
has also been interwoven into the lessons to encourage the children
to create meaning through vocal expression and movement.
The purpose of this programme is to help your child gain more practice
in getting more vocal variety into his speech and to help the child
practice conveying meaning through expression in his speech.
Our daily immersion model will mean that your child will have greater
confidence in using the Chinese Language. The long-term influence
on the use of the language will be greater than attending ‘once-a-week’
enrichment programmes.
4 Developing Character through Speech and Drama
We will be using some of the “Character First”
Series designed to help children develop a sense of responsibility
and an understanding of the values of life. Through the stories
illustrated through the lives of animals, our children will be taught
the value of courage (lion), attentiveness (deer), obedience (elephant),
etc. Speaking, acting, choral reading and writing experiences will
also be incorporated.
Our very own series of A-Story-A-Day books focusing on developing
the right values early (written by Mrs Patricia Koh) will also be
included as part of the Speech and Drama curriculum.
5 Physical Skills / Creative Art / Cookery / Play
This is a fun day of ball games, messing around with paints,
cooking stone soup stone, building a house in the shortest time
and other creative play activities.
The fun is in knowing that one does not have to achieve anything
to learn. The fun is in being himself and having a great time bonding
with his friends. |
