K2 Graduation Musical 2005
Date: 03/12/2005

K2 GRADUATION MUSICAL - WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY AND THE STAR FAIRIES

2005’s Graduation Musical saw about 200 K2 children take to the stage with confidence, aplomb and lots of laughter. Parents were amazed at the numerous English & Chinese lines the children spouted with flair amid specially choreographed singing and dancing.

Putting together one musical is enough hard work… These K2 children together with their teachers and all the staff of Pat’s Schoolhouse went the extra mile to put together TWO musicals – Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and The Star Fairies.

Over the weekend of 2-3 December 2005, three shows were put up by the various centres at University Cultural Centre @ National University of Singapore… here are some highlights from the children:

1. Ethan Lee from Claymore Centre played the furious Mayor who has to punish the Ten Brothers in the Chinese musical. About how he coped with remembering his numerous lines in Mandarin, he quipped “I love it! I don’t speak much Chinese at home but I just learnt what Yang Lao Shi taught me.” If he had a choice on which of the Ten Brothers he’d like to be, it’d be the one whose head cannot be cut off, “’cos he’s so cool!”.

2. Poon Chee Yean from Serangoon Centre played the evil Slugworth in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. About how he feels playing a bad guy in front of such a large audience, he says “Nice! It’s fun doing this! And I’m not afraid of performing because the last time I performed in front of many people, no one laughed!”
